Rice and Quina when at Chelsea Academy... Their Academy view

I was talking to Chelsea Academy staff at the weekend. Rice and Quina both came to us from there.
On Quina they felt he was a great prospect but when it came time for contract offers his agent asked for more money than any other Chelsea player had ever asked for at that age. Agent then went hawking him around other clubs... Basically the same thing that appears to have happened to us. An agent who just wants player to move every two years to get his cut.
On Rice their opinion when he was allowed to leave was that he was strong, good in air, strong in tackle and a really superb attitude. They felt he wasn't agile enough to make it to the very top, a bit flat footed sometimes especially when someone ran at him at speed with the ball.
Nothing earth shattering. Hopefully Quina career will nosedive and Rice will call captain us to Champions League win.

Because it plays into that convenient narrative of (usually black) players with agents who have the temerity to accept the contracts that we offer them as young talents. Then when the club gets cold feet the player and his agent can take the blame for the club's mistakes.

Why are people going mad at Quina exactly?
We got him on a free, and he never broke into our first team.
With the players we've brought in, you'd have to say his first team chances would be limited even further.
Made £1m when we moved him on, not really like he owes us anything is it?

Yes Terry was a midfielder through most of his youth career and was definitely still seen as one when he left us.

You know what's funny. After their explanation about releasing Rice they said the same thing i.e of course you could say the same for John Terry and he had a good career.

Aidy Ward is a fist of the highest order. He also reps Raheem.
Quick C&P on when Sterling engineered his move from Liverpool to Manchester City, even doing an interview with the BBC direct saying he was "not a money grabber".
Brendan Rodgers: "You are not a 20-year-old boy and you pick up the phone and ask to speak to the BBC. You don’t do it. Him in particular. But, of course, if he is asked to do that by other parties then that is what he’ll do.”
Ward himself then gave an interview to the London Evening Standard, saying, “I don’t care about the PR of the club and the club situation. I don’t care.
“He is definitely not signing. He’s not signing for £700, £800, £900 thousand a week. He is not signing.
“My job is to make sure I do the best with them (my clients). If people say I am bad at my job, or they are badly advised it does not matter.”
Ward currently trying it on again with City and Sterling. And it clearly is about money, the contradictory twat.
In short: if Quina is represented by Ward, can't bin the cunt quick enough. He looked way overhyped anyway.
